Purposes of Data Processing

Our services include the tracking and indexing of information published on the internet with public character. This means that, basically, we work like a search engine (eg Google, Bing, Yahoo …). On the other hand, in certain cases, we contract services from third parties with the same purpose. All this information is part of our main activity, so we offer our customers access to this information and its analysis. We do not make decisions about people based on the data collected and analysis performed.


Use of data

We want to emphasise that all the information we collect is public; so that anyone can access it through the internet. There is only one exception to this rule, for some Social Networks Owned Channels, the user might give Websays authorisation in order to gather mentions only available for that user or page admin. The Websays data gathering includes the possibility to collect personal data. For example, your first and last name (if you use them as a username on social networks). In any case, you always maintain control over your publications and profile, in accordance with the ‘Terms and Conditions’ and ‘Privacy Policy’ of each social network or web page in which you can participate. That is, we only access that information that you have decided freely to make public and that the source, platform, web and / or social network decides to share with us.

Going into detail, we can collect the following raw data:

  1. Name, surname, user name and any other user ID.
  2. Publications made with your user ID.
  3. Images or videos related to your user ID.
  4. Profession and / or job position.
  5. Interests.
  6. Location.
  7. Gender.
  8. All information that you share publicly on a web page or social network.

After carrying out our analysis operations on the indicated data, we can establish a profile with additional information. This information is obtained through the application of algorithms that cross all the information collected. For example, if you publish content about soccer habitually, we can understand that you are fond of soccer. And if these publications are about a particular football club, we can conclude that you are a follower of that club.


Legal base

It is our obligation to expressly indicate the legal grounds that allow us to process all these data. In accordance with the General Regulation of Data Protection of the European Union; as well as with the Article 29 Working Group Guidelines, Websays is entitled to process the data collected on the basis of a ‘legitimate interest’. Specifically, our services consist in offering our clients all the possible information available on the internet, within the framework of the law, in relation to their legitimate interests (eg reputation, branding, marketing, market trends study, feeling towards your brand and other brands, etc.).

That is why we make sure that our clients respect privacy with the same commitment that we indicate in this Policy. However, we are not responsible in the event that any of our customers make improper or excessive use of the data. Similarly, we are not responsible for incidents caused by unauthorised access by third parties. In any case, any safety incident will be communicated to the relevant authorities as quickly as possible.
